The story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory takes place in a chocolate factory. Charlie inherits owning the factory from his father, but despite being unhappy about it, he does not have any plans to change it. It was one of those things that were always there so he figures its best to leave well enough alone. But as the story goes on, Charlie discovers a secret door in his father's attic and begin to have dreams about a chocolate factory, a boy named Willy Wonka, and a golden ticket. In those dreams, if he wins the golden ticket, he will be able to visit the factory forever. This summary is based on the film of the same name and may not be 100% accurate. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was released at 9:00 am 3 August 2005 (20:10 UTC), 20:35 (UTC), and 10:52 (UTC). Universal Studios Home Entertainment released "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" on DVD on 27 November 2006 . The film was released on Blu-ray Disc on April 5, 2009. Universal Home Video released "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" on DVD in the UK 27 September 2015. After watching the film with is daughter, Ira, he believes he saw scenes from the movie being filmed at his local shopping mall. This led to a series of meetings with Universal Studios executives over a period of 3 years who would not firm up an agreement until they were satisfied that 'this was not a hoax.' The story was revealed in 2000 but Ira had not realized until recently that Universal had apparently agreed to this meeting. On 24 June 2010, it was announced that Warner Bros. was working on a film adaptation of the book. On 22 June 2012, it was announced that Tim Burton would direct the film, with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children director, "Rylance". In July 2011 it was reported that Burton had brought aboard "Dark Knight" screenwriter David Seltzer to polish the script. The film was confirmed to be a musical. On 20 October 2012, Warner Bros. announced that they had hired Danny Elfman to compose the score for the movie which was released on 23 March 2013. In December 2013 it was announced that Nathan Lane and Eric Christmas would be joining the cast. In February 2014, a film titled "Untitled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Project" was revealed, with a working title of "Chocolate City. The film is set to be released on 31 March 2015 in 3D. On 15 January 2015 it was announced that Wyatt O'Brien had been cast in the film as Willy Wonka. In mid-April 2015, Burton stated that there will be no Broadway musical adaptation of the story for this version of the project.
